Well, the Z4 is obviously much better than the Z3. The hydraulic motor for the Z4 is twice the cost @ $1200. But the labor to replace it is only 8 hours = $1000. Dealer's going to actually diagnose (and estimate) the problem on the 26th. They only want $155 for the estimate.

Aug 19, 2020. #4. Bear in mind oil does not run up hill. Only thing to do is remove the under tray and clean off the leaked oil (use an aerosol of brake cleaner or similar) then replace the tray and run the car. Inspect at intervals for new oil appearing and try to see where it is coming from.

Remove the old rubber seal from the oil filter cover carefully, using the screwdriver to help prise it off: Once removed, clean the whole oil filter cover unit, removing as much of the old oil as possible. The cars a 2.2 variant and has 105000 miles on the clock give or take. I had it serviced when the ccv was replaced. The oil I'm using is fully synthetic 5/30 bmw oil from Halfrauds. I'm currently doing a lot of motorway miles. 180 miles from Mancester to Newbury then a few days 7 miles from hotel to the office then 180 miles back up north.
