Found this on the C1 Club: This applies to all models, Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo. The clutch on earlier cars is a known issue and was replaced with a larger unit around late 2008/early 2009, the club store has the repair fix available, this 190mm item fits all petrol models and years and fixes the problem for good.
I have a 2007 Citroen C1 with 22,000 miles and the clutch has become a little 'sticky'. I mentioned this at the annual service and was told that it had been lubricated, but that if it persists then the gearbox would have to come out. Checking online, clutch problems seem to be a known fault, but I would value your take on the solution.
The brake which must be pushed down to start the car had frozen; although, I was able to change the gears to put the car into drive and reverse. A local garage diagnosed it as a "gearbox problem" and said with automatic cars the gearbox cannot be repaired, just replaced. I was quoted £2200 by Toyota and £1500 by the same independent garage.
